The Second Scottish Mind Olympics

The Second Scottish Mind Olympics was held this last Saturday, April 26th, at Davidson’s Main Primary School in Edinburgh. At the end of an exciting tournament, the four fabulous top players who will be representing Scotland at the International Mind Olympics in Istanbul were elected. The excitement is at its peak for it is the first time that Scotland will be attending the international event.

Our Scottish franchisee tells us that all the children played trmendously well, with good team spirit. They all shook hands with their opponets and remained positive regardless of the results.

Davidson's Mains Primary School was the overall winning school with a team comprising of Andrew Mekie, Matthew Walker, Ben Robertson and  Hannah Leslie.
South Morningside came a close second with team players: Michael Berry, Matthew Gillon, Jacob Beckman, and Jennifer Hartley.

Of course at the end, there could only be four winning players that will represent Scotland at the Olympics. The proud delegates are Harriet Johnson (Flora Stevenson Primary School) who will be competing at the game of Octi, Andrew Mekie (Davidson’s Mains) representing Scotland at the game of Checkers, Mathew Gillan (South Morningside), the Quoridor champion, and Ben Jourdan (Edinburgh Academy) who will try to beat everyone playing Abalone.

We wish the Scottish team the best of luck. Practice really hard as the Olympics is getting closer and closer!
