The preparations for the finals of the International Mind Lab Olympics in Venice, Italy – June 2009 – have already begun!
One of the first national tournaments this year was held in Brazil on October 18th. The tournament was held in the famous and prestigiuos São Luís School in São Paulo. Six teams from some the best schools in Brazil competed for the honor of representing their country in the international Mind Lab Olympics. The atmosphere at the tournament was nerve wrecking, however the competitors were "good sports" and kept the ambiance pleasant. The guest of honors at the tournament, Mr. Ehud Shachar and Mr. Tzvika Feldfogel of Mind Lab Group, expressed their compliments on the organization of the event, and the way the tournament went about.
As always, no matter how good everyone is, there can only be one winning team. This year's winner is the team from Padre Moye School: Felipe Calçolari de Souza, Matheus Oliveira Herbst Santos, Renan Chagas Lima Mussi and Camila Cristina Vincentini F. da Silva. See you in Italy!
In parallel to the main Olympic event, Mind Lab Brazil held a large "Parent-Child" event, allowing the parents to get familiar with the Mind Lab philosophy and games. This too was a great success: children and parents from sixteen different schools from all over Brazil participated in this much enjoyed event.
Another exciting and thought-provoking session that took place on São Luís School, just before the final tournament started, was a panel discussion on the importance of utilizing strategy games within the educational process, with hundreds of teachers and school principles participating. The panel was lead by the renowned researcher Prof. Lino de Macedo, with the participation of Mrs. Sandra Garcia – Mind Lab Brazil’s Pedagogical Manager, and Mr. Tzvika Feldfogel of Mind Lab Group.
