This year's Mind Olympic events will take place in two seperate locations. The Pre-Olympics events, which will be held on June 15th, 2010, will be held in Vajdahunyad Castle. The final tournament itself, however, will be held on June 16th in the Novotel Centrum Hotel.
Vajdahunyad Castle
The Castle was built between 1896 and 1908. It is a display of different architectural styles: Romanic, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque.
Originally it was made from cardboard and wood for the millennial exhibition in 1896 but it became so popular that it was rebuilt from stone and brick.
The castle “sits” in the middle of the City park, and we are sure that it will make a fine scenery for the great Pre-Olympics events.
Novotel Centrum Budapest Hotel
Where the Novotel stands nowadays, once stood the great Hotel Palace which served its first guests in 1911.
Being the most fashionable hotel of that time, it dazzled the elegant public with its stuccoes and wrought iron decoration, coloured glass windows, marble columns, the hall with a gallery and the filt chandeliers. Besides the secessionist motifs and style, the hotel supplied several modern services as hot and cold running water in every room, elevator and more!
After World War II it was a party's headquarter, like many other palaces in Budapest. It became an hotel again in 1951.
The Novotel toaday, just .like its former on hundred years ago, oofers the beauty of elegance.
